Exciting Changes Coming To Westcliff Casino

Our casino in Westcliff, a favourite for our players, has some very exciting news to share.

We’re always doing everything we can to ensure you have a memorable experience when you visit a Genting Casino and part of that is looking for new ways to improve our venues. We’ve been considering a refurb at Genting Casino Westcliff for some time and the necessary roof improvements have given us the opportunity to do just that!

This project is planned to be completed in two phases, while the first phase will be replacing the roof, the second one aims at giving our casino a fabulous new look, taking full advantage of the unique views of the estuary at this popular and historic seafront venue. We promise all the excitement and atmosphere you love but with a brand new look and feel!

Don't worry though, our casino will remain open while we get to work so you can continue to enjoy the unique hospitality & gaming experience we offer. It’s worth mentioning that there will be some disruption during the building work. Our members have been patient and understanding so far with our work on-site and we know that this minor disruption will be worth it for the end result. Our only priority will be to ensure our guest’s safety throughout the duration of this project.

We have been granted planning permission to replace the roof of our Westcliff casino in the first phase of this major restoration project. It will begin this month (January 2025) and is expected to take at least a year.

“This is a very exciting project, which will transform one of Southend’s most recognisable landmarks. We are combining the necessary roof repair work with a stunning refurbishment that we are confident our guests will love.

There will inevitably be some disruption during the building work, but we have a very loyal clientele, and we decided to keep the casino open so they can continue to enjoy the unique hospitality and gaming experience we offer at Westcliff. Our priority will be to ensure our guests’ safety throughout the project and to minimise any inconvenience.

Phase 1

During phase one of the refurbishment, the main entrance will be closed, and guests will enter the casino through the secondary entrance, which leads into the bar area. The slots area will be moved further inside the casino.

Building work will take place during weekday working hours, minimising the impact during evenings and at weekends when the casino is at its busiest and we know that you want to make the most of your experience. There will be reduced parking capacity during the day, which will be managed appropriately, together with any necessary temporary footpath closures.

Don't worry we'll continue to have our popular live events during the initial phase of the refurbishment program in the first half of 2025 and we'll remain available for charity events and functions. Our Waterfront restaurant will also remain open, with reduced capacity.
